Water level is maintained in the cup so no need for chickens to peck.
Good option for young chicks until they are old enough for nipples or cups that are triggered by pecking a paddle. The water stands in the cup all the time, so not an optimal long term solution if trying to avoid standing water in plastics. Note, these drop a bit lower than the standard cups so expect to change drinker height if/when you change to other cups or to nipples.
